Mindful Yoga in Hatha Tradition with Lori
Thursdays 7.15pm–8.30pm. $13 drop in or YFL 1 hour class card.
Mindful Yoga instruction draws from the ancient wisdom of yoga and mindfulness practices, with insights garnered from modern mind-body science. Your attention is directed towards bodily sensations, thoughts and emotions during movement and stillness, allowing a deeper sense of embodiment, an expanded perspective, and a stronger connection to the body’s innate wisdom.
While movement develops flexibility, balance, posture, and strength, mindfulness builds non-judgmental awareness, focus and concentration. Remaining present to our experience as it unfolds encourages us to befriend all aspects of our being, even parts previously rejected.
Mindfulness can help us stay balanced and openhearted during the challenges of daily living, and can give rise to compassion for ourselves and others. Through this practice we can let go of struggle and relax with what is.
Classes include gentle movement, breath awareness, meditation, and deep relaxation. Students of all levels are welcome.
Yin Yoga with Stacy
Sundays 7.30pm–8.30pm. $13 drop in or YFL 1 hour class card.
The essence of Yin Yoga is surrender. It is a meditative approach to accessing the deeper tissues of the body such as the connective tissue and fascia primarily around the hips, pelvis, and lower spine. The muscles are held as relaxed as possible while passively held poses are maintained for longer lengths of time. Many people find immediate benefits including open hips, a soothed nervous system, and a centered mind. Consistent practice results in increased overall flexibility, better lubrication and protection of the joints, and free-flowing energy throughout the body. It effectively balances a yang-style practice, and creates space in the body to enhance a more active lifestyle and physical activity.
Yin Yoga accesses deep-seated emotions that have been lodged in the tissues and is a highly therapeutic exercise, often used in programs that deal with addictions, eating disorders, anxiety, and deep pain or trauma. When the deep connective tissues of the body are released, there is also a release of toxic emotion and self-destructive thought and behavior patterns. Removing these blockages facilitates energy flow and actually improves athletic performance, making it a valuable component of any physical practice.
Suitable for students of all levels. This practice is for everyone!

Free Morning Chanting and Meditation with Rhonda
Tuesdays 8am–9am. $Free.
Ground yourself and create a place of peace, calm and openness to start your day. Make a difference to your day and, through that, make a difference to the people that you share your day with. Change the world a small amount but change it nevertheless.
Join Rhonda and share in her morning chanting and meditation practice.
Beginning with the ancient, proven method of chanting as a pranayama (breathing practice), we start to quiet the mind in preparation for meditation. This is not “singing” so there is no judgement about voice ability. It is followed by an instructed meditation to experience your true nature. Support is available to find your most comfortable seat.
No experience necessary, although experienced meditators will be supported by the energy to go deeper.
No need to register. Everybody is welcome!

Taking Yoga off the mat and into our lives.
Yoga For Living is offering an opportunity to practice Karma Yoga (Seva) – The Yoga of Action. Our mission at YFL is to help us discover and express our inner light, while deepening our connection to community and the earth.
Each month we offer a karma yoga class. Class attendance is by donation and we donate all proceeds from the class directly to our cause of the month. We suggest a donation of $13 per class.
Karma Yoga (Seva) Project
Each month we support a local charity with donations needed as well as dedicate all of the proceeds of one of our yoga classes to this charity of the month in the loving act of Seva.
When we perform our actions, right actions, with pure intentions it purifies the heart by teaching us to act selflessly, without thought of gain or reward. By detaching ourselves from the fruits of our actions and offering them up to spirit, we learn to sublimate the ego. This is living our yoga!
If you have any suggestions of local, good causes that fit in with our philosophy and core values then please contact us or call Rhonda on 856-404-7287.
